AFC Corsham went down to a 5-3 defeat away at Bradford Town in the first game of the Mid Wilts season.

The team lined up in a new 4-1-4-1 formation and it worked well up the hill in the first half with Alex A scoring a well taken goal. Unfortunately Bradford came back down the slope and scored two goals after being gifted too much room in the penalty area. A superb corner from Joe T could only helped into the net to make it 2-2 before Bradford grabbed another to lead 3-2 at the break.

Corsham changed their shape in the second half, moving to a traditional 442 formation and they dominated play down the hill with Harvey W and Ryan J causing all sorts of problems with tricky wing play. Bradford broke away and scored another goal to go 4-2 ahead and then were awarded a penalty – from which Oscar made a superb save to his right, pushing the ball round the post. From one of Harvey’s crosses Joel despatched the ball into the net with a clever finish to make it 4-3. Pushing forward to claim an equaliser Corsham were caught short at the back and Bradford added another goal to make the final score 5-3.

However, an encouraging performance all round.
